The Execution Equation

The master formula that governs all business execution.

The Master Equation

f(x) = [A·C·R] / [D+F+H] · W

Every business operation—every project, every team, every initiative—can be expressed as a single equation. This is not metaphor. This is mechanics.

The numerator [A·C·R] represents your productive capacity: Alignment (how well actions match intent), Cohesion (team unity), and Resources (time, money, attention). These multiply—one zero kills everything.

The denominator [D+F+H] represents resistance: Drift (deviation from intent over time), Friction (process overhead), and Hidden costs (technical debt, turnover, untracked expenses). These add—each one drags you down.

The gate W is Writability—a binary switch. Can this operation be computed? If W=0, nothing else matters. The entire equation collapses to zero.

What This Means
Most business advice tells you to “work harder” or “be more aligned.” But the equation shows something different: reducing denominator terms often matters more than increasing numerator terms.
Cut one meeting (reduce F). Track one hidden cost (reduce H). Catch drift early (reduce D). These compound faster than motivation speeches ever could.
